General Assistant - Specialist - Cafe & Counters (18 years and over)

The Specialist Department is a busy department with a variety of interesting tasks. This particular role will involve working across all areas of the department, which includes all our Fresh food counters, Meat and Fish, our Deli Counter and at times you will be required to work In our Customer Cafe, here you will be making and serving food and drinks, taking money, and of course always making sure the department is spotlessly clean. On our Deli and Fresh counters you will work with a large variety of different food products including cooked meats, cheese, fish and raw meat. This department is a great opportunity to engage with our customers and to provide great customer service, as well as learning about and working with lots of different food types.
As these positions will involve the use of knives and cutting equipment we can only accept applications from individuals aged 18 years and over.
Occasionally there will be the opportunity to be involved with events, where you will be able to assist in raising funds for a range of charities.

Overview of our Specialist Department -
Our Specialist Department consists of the Café, Delicatessen, Cheese Monger, Hot Counter, Butchers Department and the opportunity to partake in Taste & Talk events, as well as regular weekend tastings. As a member of the Specialist Team you would be part of ensuring our customers are served in an efficient, friendly and polite manner, along with offering suggestions for different products. All the specialist Team spend time across different areas of the department.
You will be responsible for the following:
Ensuring that customers are served in an efficient, friendly and polite manner.
Professionally dealing with all our customer enquiries.
Ensuring that goods are displayed to company standards.
Taking part in quarterly stock takes.
Maintaining all required records accurately
Ensuring that goods are rotated and handled with care to minimise damages
Complying fully with food hygiene and health and safety requirements at all times
Helping the store build a strong relationship with the local community
You need to show us that you have the following:
Knowledge of Booths (essential)
Knowledge of the retail trade (desirable)
Ability to communicate clearly and confidently (essential)
Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively (essential)
Ability to serve customers in a friendly, polite and approachable manner (essential)
Ability to demonstrate a flexible attitude to work, and working hours (essential)
Experience of working in a retail environment (desirable)
Experience of working in food retail (desirable)
Experience of working in a team situation (essential)
Experience or working in a customer service environment (desirable)
GCSE Maths & English grades A-C or equivalent (desirable)
Basic Food Hygiene certificate (desirable)
Must be over 18 due to working with Knvies
15 hour Contract shift pattern -
Thursday - 1pm - 5pm
Friday - 4pm - 8pm
Saturday - 12noon - 8pm
18 hour contract shift pattern -
Sunday - 10.30am - 3.30pm
Tuesday - 7am - 11am
Thursday - 11am - 3pm
Friday - 10.30am - 3.30pm
